CHRISTIAN KAHRMANN
Founding Partner
Christian Kahrmann
is well known to German audiences, having started his career as an
actor at the age of 8 appearing in many films and television series
whilst still attending school. He graduated from german high school in
1991 and started studying Theater, Film and Television as well as
German and English at Cologne University.
At the beginning of the 90's he worked intensively with Walter Lott,
one of the core members and teachers of the Actor's Studio in New York.
Walter encouraged Christian to move to New York in ´95, where
he then studied for 3 years full-time at the renowned Herbert Berghoff
Studio with the likes of Elizabeth Wilson, Salem Ludwig and Edward
Morehouse. Christian was also a member of Susan Batson´s group
for several years, still training in "The Method". In 1996 Christian
joined with his friends and fellow actors Ronald Marx and Jarreth Merz
to found German Theater Abroad (GTA), a theater company that
produces and promotes contemporary german drama in English
translation on american territory. With GTA Christian has produced
various shows and festivals, both as an actor and producer, and is
today still active in the Berlin branch of the company.
Since moving back to
Germany at the end of '98 he has worked continuously as an actor.
German moviegoers remember him well from "Bang, Boom, Bang", "The first
Semester", "Hart's War", starring Bruce Willis and Collin Farrell, and
"Equillibrium" where he starred alongside Christian Bale and Sean Bean.
His ongoing interest
in various acting approaches led Christian to meet with
Meisner-Technique instructor Mike Bernardin from London in 2005. After
many rapturously acclaimed workshops in this work, and following Mike's
move to Berlin in 2008, they have been able to properly establish
Germany's first continous Meisner-based training programme for
professional actors.
Christian lives in
Berlin with his girlfriend Sandya and their daughter, Madita.
